WERC_Artist_Talks
A series of talks with our favourite new media artists. Over the years we’ve met some inspiring, thougt provoking and kind artists from all over the world. We’d love for you to meet them as well, so we’re inviting them for an Artist Talk in our studio, where we can all have a drink, talk about the current challenges and opportunities in new media art and discuss their work.
TENTH EDITION WITH HELEEN BLANKEN
Heleen Blanken’s work lies at the intersection of nature, technology and perception. Through installations, kinetic sculptures, generative video environments and spatial scenography, she explores how technology and nature seem to be increasingly merging.
This theme is strongly evident in Habitat (2020), an immersive digital environment in which nature appears as an artificial memory; Abiosis (2022), a mechanical ecosystem inspired by theories on the origin of life; and Singularity Garden (2025), a robotic Zen garden in which mechanical arms endlessly trace patterns in sand.
Her installations invite visitors to engage with possible future worlds, where technology, nature and human perception are constantly intertwined.
